shrek jr Auditions!
New Spark Policies:
- All cast must be off-book by the first rehearsal. Off book at NSPA means familiarity with music and knowing all lines. If any cast member fails to arrive off-book, it may lead to removal from the show or recasting of roles.
- Please reference the rehearsal schedule below. Cast is allowed 5 scheduled conflicts during rehearsal. Leads ( Shrek, Fiona, Donkey, and Lord Farquaad) may only miss 3 rehearsals. Missing rehearsals that aren't pre-established conflicts (or emergencies) may result in removal or recasting. Conflicts must be submitted either on this form or by email before rehearsals begin.
- Conflicts must be submitted either on the audition form or via the additional conflicts form before rehearsals begin.
Rehearsal Schedules:
Our rehearsal schedule is linked below. Blue dates are regular rehearsals. Red dates are mandatory rehearsals, and black dates are the trip. Please note this when adding conflicts.

Audition FAQs:
What time should I get there? Will I have to stay the whole time? You should arrive 10-15 minutes early. Auditionees will be asked to check in, and then wait outside or in the lobby until the audition starts. You will need to stay for the entire audition slot you sign up for.
I am a parent, can I stay during auditions? Parents should feel free to stay in the building during auditions, but are not allowed in the audition room with students. All of our auditions and rehearsals are closed to the public. We understand that your student may get nervous during the audition, there is typically a 5 minute break between the vocal and dance calls where they can step out of the room and speak to you if need be.
Are there online auditions? Online auditions (when offered) are only recommended for either college students who will not be in town for auditions, or those who have serious conflicts on our audition date(s). Though all auditions will be considered, if you are available to audition in-person, is it preferred by the casting director to come audition in-person. If you need to request an online audition please email our Artistic Director at least one week prior to auditions.
What should I bring? Should I prepare anything? We will learn all audition material AT the audition. It is good to research the show so that you know the plot and descriptions of the characters you're auditioning for, but you won't have to learn anything in advance. You should wear comfortable clothing, closed-toed shoes, and bring water. Please do not bring headshots or resumes.
Will I have to sing / dance in front of others? Yes. Our auditions are cattle-call style, meaning the entire group will learn the dances and songs together, then do their group and solo auditions in front of one another. We encourage a supportive audition environment.
Will there be callbacks? How will I know if I got in or not? We typically do not have callbacks unless they are 100% necessary. Everyone will receive an email whether they got in or not, letting them know. The email will come within one week of the audition. If callbacks are required, we will email all those called back! Not receiving a callback does not mean that you are not being cast, it just means that a decision was already made for you.
