child safety

NSPA was created by parents, and parents remain actively involved in day-to-day operations. The safety of children (ours and yours) is our top priority, which is why we enthusiastically adopted our policy for all NSPA-sponsored activities.  A summary of the policy is provided below:
  • A minimum of two adults will supervise each group of youth.
  • All adults should be background checked and trained in child abuse prevention.
  • All adults should be at least 18 years of age and at least 5 years older than the youngest child being supervised.
  • At least one adult at the event should be certified in CPR and First Aid and prepared to provide medical care within the scope of their certification.
  • Youth should be checked into and out of all NSPA programming either by an adult or themselves depending on the program.
  • All doors leading to outside must remain locked at all times.
  • Incident reports will be sent out immediately via email and parent phone calls will be made if any injury occurs.
In addition, all board members and teenage counselors over 16 years of age shall be trained in “Stewards of Children” training provided by the Memphis Child Advocacy Center.
