NSPA was created by parents, and parents remain actively involved in day-to-day operations. The safety of children (ours and yours) is our top priority, which is why we enthusiastically adopted our policy for all NSPA-sponsored activities. A summary of the policy is provided below:
In addition, all board members and teenage counselors over 16 years of age shall be trained in “Stewards of Children” training provided by the Memphis Child Advocacy Center.
- A minimum of two adults will supervise each group of youth.
- All adults should be background checked and trained in child abuse prevention.
- All adults should be at least 18 years of age and at least 5 years older than the youngest child being supervised.
- At least one adult at the event should be certified in CPR and First Aid and prepared to provide medical care within the scope of their certification.
- Youth should be checked into and out of all NSPA programming either by an adult or themselves depending on the program.
- All doors leading to outside must remain locked at all times.
- Incident reports will be sent out immediately via email and parent phone calls will be made if any injury occurs.
