New Spark Testimonials
New Spark Performing Arts production of Disney’s Moana Jr. was absolutely beautiful, from its wonderful student-driven choreography to a cast that worked together in a breathtaking way. New Spark clearly supports all forms of musical theater jobs including student choreographers, actors and directors. Community is defined as “a feeling of fellowship with others, as a result of sharing common attitudes, interests, and goals.” I love that New Spark puts so much emphasis on youth leadership because when we as students get a say in how our own production is run, I feel like I can really take ownership of the final product and become much more connected to what I'm doing. I also think that New Spark gives us a great introduction to the roles in the theater world besides just actors. We have the chance to experience being stage crew members, choreographers, music directors, and more so early on. Not only does this expand the range of people who come work with us, but it also shows that there is a place for so many different skills and interests in the theater industry! As a director, Raejah is very empowering to the students. She always gives us the freedom to experiment and add our own creativity to productions, which is something really unique about New Spark. Raejah definitely makes a point to show us that although we are still students, our voice and our ideas matter just as much as adults', and she makes sure to emphasize that our age doesn't make us any less capable as performers. |
If you have a child in middle school or high school that is interested in theater please look into New Spark Performing Arts! Tonight was their first fundraiser [New Spark Dinner Theater] and was proof of what an amazing group this will be. Two theater shorts and both were amazing. The high school performance left me in tears and the middle school one had me laughing. This will be the group to be in so join now to reap all of the benefits! ❤️ #NewSpark901 My best experience at NSPA would have to be the first time I was a camp counselor, Raejah has never failed to let us know through her words and actions how much she cares about kids and it was such an amazing experience to finally get to personally see how meaningful it is to share your passions with younger kids and get to be a part of their journey in the arts I had so much fun working with kids and being able to make kids feel as supported and uplifted as whole theater community has made me feel. Working with Raejah is such a valuable experience and has taught me so much about being a leader and learning how to be the best version of myself, I love having Raejah as my director because she gives us the freedom to be creative in everything we do and allows us to express ourselves through musical theater in a safe and supportive environment, I feel like having a youth-led production is such a memorable way to participate in the arts because of how important we make each other feel by knowing that we understand our similarities and differences, working with a younger director and choreographer has made all the difference in how we as a theater represent ourselves both on and off stage. |
