About our program

Counselors and Jr Counselors are what make camp go round!
​Each summer, we've had amazing groups of teens and young adults choreographing numbers, teach music, and lead activities. They work hand-in-hand with the Artistic Director to make sure camp goes as smoothly as possible. We're so excited to bring in new and old faces this year to help with Annie Kids, Aladdin KIDS, and Winnie The Pooh KIDS! Schedule & Important Dates:
  • Applications are live from February 26th - April 14th
  • Interviews will be held on April 16th
  • There will be a group interview from 10am -12:30pm. Individual interviews will be from 12:40pm - 3pm. make sure to sign up for a slot.
  • Mandatory camp training week is June 6th -10th​

Head Counselors

New Spark is hiring 4 head counselors to work the entire summer as Music Director, Choreographer, Technical Director, and Assistant Camp Director. They'll work directly under our Artistic Director making sure camp runs as smoothly as possible. Head counselors will keep their assigned leadership roles all summer, with JR Counselors acting as their assistants each week.

Head Counselors will be paid a minimum of $200 a week for each week of camp. Their camp payment may go up depending on camp enrollment numbers.
Responsibilities:
  • Teaching up to 35 kids at a time material for their show
  • Running tech and front-of-house for the Friday performances
  • ​There will be some out-of-camp responsibilities (choreography at home, planning activities, etc.)
  • Assisting with camp check-in & check-out.
  • All counselors will be expected to arrive for camp each morning by 8:45, and leave no earlier than 5:15​
  • On Fridays we'll be out at no later than 6:15
  • ​Applicants must have experience with the position they are applying for as well as camp experience (not NSPA specifically)​​
Requirements:
  • Passion for working with young people. 
  • Classroom management skills, communication skills, maturity, and strong team work skills
  • Applicants must be rising 11th grade - college age
  • Applicants must be available for all 3 weeks of camp plus all of training week.

jr counselors

Our Jr Counselor program is a volunteer opportunity for young people looking to gain valuable  leadership experience! Jr. Counselors work directly under the AD and HCs as a vital part of the daily flow of camp.

​Jr Counselors will get the opportunity to lead games and activities, as well as helping the head counselors with choreography, music, and even staging! 
  Responsibilities:
  • Assisting the HCs teach up to 35 kids at a time material for their show
  • Participating in the Friday performances​
  • Making sure they know all material for the show at all times
  • ​Leading games and activities
  • JR Counselors must sign up for one day of before care per week.​
  • All counselors will be expected to arrive for camp each morning by 8:45, and leave no earlier than 5:15
  • On Fridays we'll be out at no later than 6:15
  • No prior camp experience is necessary to apply, theater experience is recommended​
Requirements:
  • Passion for working with young people
  • Classroom management skills, communication skills, maturity,  and strong team work skills
  • Applicants must be rising 9th grade - college age
  • Applicants must be available for the entire training week and Monday-Friday of any week they apply for. Jr Counselors do not have to work every week of camp.​
