New Spark's 2020-2021 Season
In the midst of the current health crisis, we know that plans and schedules can change in the blink of eye. But at New Spark, we hold fast to our belief that "the show must go on", because we truly need the positivity and joy that theater brings to everyone it touches. While we mourn with our fellow community members over shows that have been cancelled or postponed, we maintain our excitement and determination to be part of the great things we know the Memphis theater community has in store in the coming year. As promised, New Spark Performing Arts is pleased to announce our first season for 2020- 21.
It is our hope that our youth and supporters see our plans for the future as a New Spark of light in these dark times. As new information is presented regarding COVID-19, New Spark will make announcements regarding auditions and dates of these shows. We invite you to check our website frequently, as we have some great virtual programming we will be announcing later this week.

Transporting audiences from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus, the Cat in the Hat narrates the story of Horton the Elephant, who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos. Horton must protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, and he must also guard an abandoned egg that's been left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant! |

Into the Woods JR. features all of your favorite characters — Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack (and his beanstalk) and the Witch — in this lyrically rich retelling of classic Brothers Grimm fables. The musical centers on a baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King's festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a witch's curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse, and wind up changed forever. |
